It’s so important to have the right things on hand in your pantry, and building it takes time as you figure out what you like and don’t like—especially for those of us who love to cook. I enjoy sneaking a peek into my friends’ pantries to see what they use, and when I cook at their homes, I’ll often buy what I use so that the next time I visit, I can blend their staples with mine.
These are things I make sure to always have on hand: (The short list)
Heavy cream (Ronnybrook Farms is my favorite)
A block of Parmesan
Garlic, onions, shallots
Brodo’s Bone Broth
Better than Bouillon (all the flavors, especially Vegetarian and Chicken)
Mutti tomato paste and purée
Rao’s Marinara (the Red Wine and Balsamic versions are so good)
Hoover Sauce
All kinds of vinegar (regular, apple cider, balsamic, red wine, white wine, and rice)
Frankies 457 Olive Oil (regular and Calabrian chili)
Nielsen-Massey Vanilla
Moutarde de Bourgogne Dijon Mustard
Nutritional yeast
Grady’s Cold Brew Coffee
Some good tuna in olive oil
Illy coffee (decaf and regular)
Maple butter (my newest must-have—thanks, Bianka!)
