Honoring the Design
But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it. 1 Corinthians 12:18 (NLT)
This year, I have moved into a new place of honoring God’s specific design for me — the original design, before I adjusted to survive criticism, judgment, others' projections, limitations, wounds, and the expectations of this world.
There is a Divine intentionality to who we are.
Not just our gifts, our strengths, or the things people celebrate—but the quieter parts. The nuances. The tendencies. The places where we feel “different.”
We were designed with purpose.
Nothing about us is random.
Nothing about us is an accident.
And when we shrink, contort, or try to fit versions of ourselves that were never ours to hold, something in us goes dim. We lose the clarity that only authenticity can carry. We lose the alignment that comes from functioning as the part we were created to be.
Your uniqueness is not a flaw.
It is not something to mask or negotiate.
It is an assignment.
A contribution.
A precise placement in the larger body God is building.
To live fully as yourself isn’t indulgent — it’s obedience.
It’s honoring the Designer by honoring the design.
Gentle Reflection
What halts you from being you?
What moments, memories, or voices made you question the part you were created to play?
Where have you convinced yourself it’s safer to shrink than to stand?
A Simple Prayer
God, I honor how You made me.
Forgive me for the many times I have tried to change Your perfect design.
I wasn’t thinking of what that meant to You.
You didn’t make a mistake with me.
Give me the courage to live boldly as the person You created.
Lord, align me with the truth of who I am in You.
Help me function in the part You placed me in—with confidence, humility, and joy.
May my life honor Your intentional design.
Amen.
