Generational patterns refer to repeated behaviors, beliefs, or attitudes that are passed down from one generation to the next within families. These patterns can encompass emotional responses, communication styles, relationship dynamics, and coping mechanisms.
There was a time when I felt ostracized by my own family, trapped in a web of generational patterns like favoritism, comparison, one-upmanship, criticism, neglect, dismissiveness, and resentment. To protect myself from the pain, I created distance, thinking it was the only way to avoid being hurt.
In those times of isolation, God used that space to strengthen me, teaching me to rely on Him through the rejection I felt.
As I became more aware of these patterns, I realized something crucial: the same behaviors I deplored in my family, I could see playing out in my own character.
